Sarah Johnson – The hero of Luke 15 is the forgiving father who joyously welcomes the prodigal back home, running in greeting as he sees the wayward son. The parable is a picture of our Heavenly Father. The shadow of the cross reminds us of the way of our return as prodigals.strayed.

Sarah Johnson – I wanted to convey the strength and care of the shepherd as well as the vulnerability of the wounded black sheep. The shepherd has left the flock behind in search of the one who strayed.

Stephanie Innis – I chose this piece because it shows a young man searching for answers, thinking he would find it in wealth and independence. His gaze is towards heaven to illustrate his need for God and for his father in his life.

Amy Hill Imler – My paintings reflect many layers of texture and thought. For me, that’s what life is. We stay in the moment and work our way through it. As things change, we adjust accordingly. Even when our lives are torn apart and it seems we are lost, with faith we know that we are always at home with the Holy Spirit. We have a chance of finding our way through the layers of life, back to where we belong.

Alex Huey – The hopeless feeling of the back allies and dirty street corners of New York reminded me of the sojourn of the prodigal son. He spent much of his time carousing and loathing amid the downcasts of society in places such as this. “Old Pink” is a term that Roger Waters used to refer to the band Pink Floyd in the secret/backwards message contained within the wall. The quote is a portion of a line from the song, “Hey You,” by Pink Floyd.

Brittany Howell – My drawing focuses mostly on the welcoming back of the prodigal son, with emphasis on the father’s unconditional love. In much the same way, God welcomes us back though we have continuously been led astray. Luke 15:20 illustrates the similar compassion a father has for his son. The younger boy in the drawing hugs his dad with an emotion of relief and contentment, indicating his knowledge that no matter what, he always has a place to go with someone there for him.

Pamela Hookstra – My intentions for this photo were to show the soul alone in the dark juxtaposed with the light beckoning it to turn home.

Pamela Hookstra – As I was reading the passages in Luke 15, I was struck by the immense joy that each person experienced upon the reunion of their lost love. No matter the trouble caused by the lost sheep, the lost coin or the runaway child, each was embraced with graciousness and open arms. This theme speaks to my heart about the vast love my Abba has for me, even when I lose my way.

Judy Honey – In the parable of the prodigal son, the younger son left home on a road to sin and was devastated by his selfish and sinful living. His life became unbearable. He shamefully traveled the road back home to his father who forgave him and welcomed him with celebration. We may often take a road away from God through our sins and must find the road back for forgiveness.

Judy Honey – In the parable of the prodigal son, the return of the younger son who had left home and traveled far away over land and sea brought about much celebrating. He had squandered his inheritance but returned to his father for forgiveness. A bright light of happiness and celebration always occurs when a sinner finds his way back to God to accept His love and forgiveness.

John Honey – The parable of the lost son: squandered wealth in wild living, feeding pigs, and starvation; finally home to father. The prodigal son was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.

John Honey – The parable of the lost son: Why would the younger son squander his share of the estate in wild living? Why would his father allow it? Why would the older brother object? Costly lessons were learned.

Karlyn Holloway – Just as our Heavenly Father’s love is ever forgiving, His example is set for His children. We are always held securely in His hands.
