The Child

Art Medium: Mixed media

Art Dimensions: 24×20

Art Price: $600

My Madonna and child painting is the first one I’ve done and my models were a mom and child from a crisis pregnancy. I do think it is ironic that the real Christ child was born of a kind of crisis pregnancy too – at least His birth was in answer to a crisis for mankind.

Nightlight For An Outcast

Art Medium: Mixed Medium

Art Dimensions: 16″ x 20″

Art Price: $400

With a shepherd boy and lamb staring back at him, a voiceless outcast of society stood outside the church and examined windows which were never designed to be barriers of light. Looking through the stained glass to the golden cross, he saw plenty of empty seats and wondered if the love inside could ever overcome hate the way light overcomes darkness. The sunbathed pews used for contemplation, worship, and prayer soon faded as night fell. He sat alone again in the glowing light from the window.

Light for the Journey

Art Medium: Acrylic

Art Dimensions: 12″ x 16″

Art Price: $800

Psalm 119:105 “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”
The paths we follow in life are often dark and cluttered with obstacles designed to make us stumble. God promises believers light to illuminate our journey. Job 29:3 uses the light metaphor this way, “— by his light I walked through darkness; — “.

God With Us

Art Medium: Oil

Art Dimensions: 12″ x 16″

Art Price: $450

Recently our daughter-in-law gave birth to a son and as she held him close, there was such an exquisite tenderness, that I knew I would have to try to capture that moment. I can just imagine that Mary would have been caught up in such emotion when Jesus, the light of the world, was born to her. “Behold a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.” Isaiah 7:14b (KJV) “And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, . . .” Luke 2:7a (KJV)

And God Said, Let There Be Light!

Art Medium: pastel

Art Dimensions: 24″x34″

Art Price: $600

As an artist, I must have light or there is nothing to paint. As a person I must have Christ’s light or there is no meaning to life. This is why I chose the scripture Genesis 1:3 as the basis for my painting – And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. My painting portrays God’s creation of light.
These are difficult times. Friends and family are faced daily with illness, job loss, bankruptcy and death. Without the light of Jesus, we cannot survive.
My hope is that anyone who sees my painting will stop and think about how important and necessary it is to have Christ’s light in their life.

God’s Canopy

Art Medium: Acrylic

Art Dimensions: 30″ x 40″

Art Price: $1,200

Despite a lot of shade, the ground floor of the forest is the site for many important interactions and complex relationships. Humanity responds to Jesus, the light of the world, in much the same way as trees and plants of the forest respond to sunlight. God’s canopy over his creation is love. When His light comes into our lives, wonderful changes take place. Trees reaching for light remind us to pray and ask God for the strength needed to meet the trials we go through.

His Hand

Art Medium: Graphite

Art Dimensions: 10×15

Art Price: SOLD

Since our picture was to represent Jesus being a light in the world, I decided to begin by contrasting the darkness and the light. Notice how the farther from the hand the darker the shading. So why would I shade Jesus’ hand? Well Jesus came down to earth as a human. Thus he didn’t just radiate light throughout his entire existence. Also, there were times where Jesus glory shown off more than at other times; hence the lines of light coming off of his hand. You will also notice that the hole in his hand is perfectly untouched by any form of shading. This is because Christ was the perfect sacrificial lamb thus the perfect light.

The Tree of Light

Art Medium: acrylic

Art Dimensions: 40″ x 30″

Art Price: $100

I chose to paint the acacia tree, which was the same species of tree that was used to build the cross. I think that if it had not been for the cross we would have no hope, no light. It was the tree that was used by God to offer us the light of Jesus.

Light in the Window

Art Medium: Graphite

Art Dimensions: 10×15

Art Price: $40

When I began drawing, I took great consideration into what I should draw. I finally decided to draw the house to represent us, as Christians, surrounded by the darkness of the world. I drew the candle in the window to represent the hearts of Christians that are filled with the light of Jesus that shines so brightly, it not only fills the entire house, but glows around the house for the whole world to see, as well. I was inspired by the people in my life who have a burning passion for Christ and have a desire to spread His love and light to everyone around them.

Thru a Glass Darkly

Art Medium: Mixed Media – Collage

Art Dimensions: 24″X24″

Art Price: $400

Many times we ask, why did this have to happen to me? The apostle Paul must have questioned why he was not permitted to travel to Spain to spread the gospel. What a great apostle he was and what a zeal he had to spread the good news Jesus brought to the world. Paul states in the 13th chapter of his first epistle to the Corinthians that “now I see through a glass darkly but then face to face ; now I know in part; but then shall I know as also I am known.” He could not see fully the light of Christ but knew eventually he would leave his earthly body to be at home with the Lord. All things would become clear.
