jesus the light The prodigal Jonah Beginnings

Within

Art Medium: Mixed: Acrylic and Oil on Canvas

Art Dimensions: 24″ X 30″

Art Price: $900

When I approached the subject of Jesus: The Light I didn’t think representing Jesus as a person would be appropriate. He is the light, sun, sky, earth, water and everything around us. He is the goodness inside all people, all the creatures on the earth and the universe. In this painting all the people of the earth are represented as the trees and we are part of the earth, sky and the light that is Jesus.

Hold Fast

Art Medium: Acrylic on Canvas

Art Dimensions: 12″w x 30″l

Art Price: SOLD

I was listening to Switchfoot’s “The Shadow Proves The Sunshine” while painting this. The lyrics say “hold fast to the break of daylight, the shadow proves the sunshine”. It made me think of how we all have shadows in our lives, but Christ’s light shines even into our darkest places and His light never leaves us.
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified. Do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9

God’s Messenger

Art Medium: acrylic collage

Art Dimensions: 21×17

Art Price: $250

God sent His Angels to glorify Him. He gave us light to lead us to the pathway of righteousness. His Angels presented, with the glory of heavenly light, His conception and birth. Angels, I believe, are present and surround us each moment; keeping us in Jesus’ light with every trial and test we face. ( Luke 2:13-14, Genesis 1:3 ) Creating a spiritual being on paper is truly impossible, but it gives me such delight that God gave me the talent to try. God is truly the Master Artist by evidence of the rays of light we see daily.

Radiance

Art Medium: oil paint

Art Dimensions: 25inx36inx1in

Art Price: SOLD

The star shinned down over Bethlehem declaring to the world the coming of Jesus. It was a night like any other—the shepherds were with their sheep, the town was quiet, but from the heavens a star so radiant in glory declared the wonder and magnificence of an ordinary night that was not so ordinary. The light of the world had come. I love staring at the night sky—God’s creation unspoiled by man. I wanted to show the night sky on that night, and how the sky must have been transformed by a single star bright enough to lead wise men over great distances to one small baby.

Luke 2:9-11 “An angel of the Lord appeared to them and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; He is Christ the Lord.”
An angel appeared out of darkness at night to shepherds in a field to announce the arrival of the Light of the World, Jesus.

The Night Before Christmas

Art Medium: Prisma Color Pencils

Art Dimensions: 40″ x 32″

Art Price: $5150

In The Night Before Christmas, Jesus is sitting on His Throne in Heaven contemplating the life He is about live on Earth. His thoughts, in blue, are about the miracle of His birth, the mercy of the cross, and the magnitude of His resurrection. Knowing that these things were going to take place, He stepped down from His throne and came as a light unto this dark and sinful world, and doing so made visible the unfailing love of God.

Early Israelite Lyre

Art Medium: wood

Art Dimensions: 46″ x 22″

Art Price: $650

The musical instrument that you see was constructed from the mural in Knumhotpe’s tomb in Beni Hassan. The mural depicts “A group of Semitic traders, smiths, and musicians at a custom post set up on the Middle Nile about 1892 BC. These traders may have been some of the earliest Israelite s to have entered Egypt. The leader is identified with the Hebrew name Abushei, the same as that of one of King David’s two generals. The lyre being carried by one of the family group was at that time unknown in Egypt. God gave us the gift of Jesus Christ, our light, in the name of the Father.

Bright Idea

Art Medium: Ink and Marker

Art Dimensions: 16 X 20

Art Price: SOLD

I find that symbolism is a fun way to depict an idea on paper. It allows for each viewer of the piece to gather their own thoughts about what it all means as a whole. I tried to incorporate different elements that are reminiscent of light like a light bulb, linear lines for sun rays, a sun-like central design, as well as the fire colors red and yellow.

The Light Pierces Through

Art Medium: Oil Pastel

Art Dimensions: 20 x 24

Art Price: SOLD

Katrina Dolislager – In this painting, I have tried to capture just a glimmer of Christ’s love and light by using the ocean to represent our dark and uncertain lives. I also wanted to represent the warmth and comfort that basking in His light brings to me even in the depths of a seemingly endless ocean of sorrows. Christ’s light in this world is a reflection of the intense brilliance that God has waiting for us in our eternal home.
