Rays of Light

Art Medium: Photograph

Art Dimensions: 11″x14″

Art Price: $200

Watching a storm out on the ocean, I noticed how the rays of light engulf the storm. This was reassuring to me as often it seems to me at times that the storms of life are engulfing me. The rays of light are always there. I just need to look for them. This scene goes along with the scripture John 1:5 “The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it.”

Pathway of Lights

Art Medium: Photograph

Art Dimensions: 11″x14″

Art Price: $200

On a walk that I was taking I noticed a pattern of lights. I noticed the one closer to was the beginning of the light. It was sharp and clear while further away the light was dimmed. The scripture John 12:35 came to mind as it was said: “ …walk while you have the light, before darkness over takes you.”

A City On A Hill

Art Medium: pastel

Art Dimensions: 18″ wide x 22″ high

Art Price: $275

This painting represents Jesus’ words of Matthew 5:14-16: “You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.” Our lives are that city. The “city” does not need to be huge, or ornate, or elaborate…it is only called to shine. We should not try to hide the life and beauty of Christ inside us but should instead be willingly and purposefully showing it to the world.

Let There Be Light

Art Medium: pastel

Art Dimensions: 27″ x 33″

Art Price: SOLD

This work is inspired by Genesis 1:3 when God said “Let there be light.” According to John 1:3 it was through Jesus, the Word, that all things were made. I find it perfect that the spiritual Light of the World, Jesus, was the one who spoke into existence the physical light of the world. This painting is meant to illustrate that moment in eternity.

Evening Light

Art Medium: Watercolor

Art Dimensions: 16″W X 20″H

Art Price: $400

When I imagined the light of Jesus the idea of Him as invincible came to mind. In this painting I want to show a person looking into the evening light. The trees and earth represent Jesus. The autumn trees with the single stem of leaves mean the passage of time. The water represents renewal and life.

Something Jesus Here

Art Medium: Oil on canvas

Art Dimensions: 24×36x1.5

Art Price: $400

For an artist color, value, and light are very important. I learned the primary colors as a child. But I recently discovered the significance of subtractive and additive colors. Subtractive primary colors, colors from the earth or “pigment”, are yellow, red, and blue, and when mixed create black. Whereas additive primary colors, from the visible light spectrum, are green, red, and blue and when overlapped create brilliant white. Notice there is a trinity of colors in each set. If all you have is the “world” you can only create darkness and a “false” light. But when you have Jesus the Light you have the Holy Trinity and everlasting life. Read Romans 1:19-20, 2 Cor 4:6, and John 8:12.

Jesus The Light

Art Medium: Transparent Watercolor

Art Dimensions: 36 X 30

Art Price: $350

God sent his Son to light our way. The wicked brought darkness around. Their creature comfort nature was evil and dark. The followers of the Lord have sunshine in their souls. The inner spirit within glowed with the light of the Lord. The loose dark flow of transparent watercolors depicts mean looking evil that surrounded the Lord’s people. The darks show the ugliness of the wicked. The different yellows give the softness of the inner spirit that glowed with the light of the Lord.

Glowing City for the Lord

Art Price: $325

In the beginning our Lord sent the light. Darkness fell over the land of the people who turned away from God. Those that practiced evil preferred the darkness. The wicked scattered different directions in disarray. Followers of the Lord were a beacon of the light of hope and whose light shined as a witness. The city sat on a hill glowing for all to see their faith in the Lord.

Let Your Light Shine

Art Medium: Watercolor

Art Dimensions: 15 X 22

Art Price: $950

We are told in scripture not to hide our faith. We are to practice our faith before man. “The Light” is to shine from us. It is so amazing to me that dark cannot over power light, but light can expose the dark! As I was sitting on my deck looking at this old lantern my inspiration came to me and I could not get it out of my head. Christ truly is my light.

Psalm 4:6 Trust in the Lord always. My son-in-law has asked, “Who can show us any good?” Let the light of your face shine upon us, O Lord. You have filled my heart with great joy with your abundance. I lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O Lord, make me to dwell in safety. The Lord has given us children to love and care for and now I know how he has loved and cared for us.

Shepherd of Salvation

Art Medium: Watercolor

Art Dimensions: 11 X 14

Art Price:SOLD

Luke 2: 6 – 20. The couple Mary and Joseph went to Bethlehem to register for the census. While there Mary gave birth to Jesus then wrapped Him in clothes and placed Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. The shepherds came to meet the Savior of the world when the Angels told them in the field while watching their sheep. “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom His favor rests.”
The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they saw and heard. We are called to be shepherds, so let us always rejoice in the Lord. Spread the good news that God is with us.
