We Saw His Star

Art Medium: watercolor

Art Dimensions: 16″ x 20″

Art Price: $190

Matthew 2:1,2…“Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea during the reign of King Herod. About that time some wise men from eastern lands arrived in Jerusalem asking, “Where is the newborn king of the Jews? We saw his star as it rose, and we have come to worship him.”
I was raised in a Christian denomination that remembers Jesus death, burial and resurrection weekly, however, we did not put emphasis on Jesus birth at Christmas. Now as an adult I believe Christmas is a wonderful time to seek and worship the infant Jesus.

Light From Darkness

Art Medium: Ceramic

Art Dimensions: 10 x 12

Art Price: $200

My inspiration for this work came from passages in John and Matthew. John’s statement that the light of Jesus wasn’t understood by the darkness (John 1:4-5) led me to use the cross–Jesus’ death by crucifixion–as a symbol of deepest darkness and to juxtapose it with the brilliant light of the star that heralded His birth (Matt 2:2). I intend the star to symbolize not only the light of the Messiah’s arrival and brief ministry on earth, but also the light of His resurrection, which pierced the darkness for all eternity, providing “the light of life” to all who believe in Him.

Arise! Your Light Abides!

Art Medium: acrylic on canvas

Art Dimensions: 16″ X 20″

Art Price: $350

Isaiah 60:1 Early one Sunday I looked over Lake Hamilton to see the morning mist illuminated by the light of the sunrise. The mists floating across the water and the clouds rising into the sky were both catching the sun’s rays. One cloud glowed from within, shimmering with a rainbow fire. I thought of the LORD leading the Israelites in the wilderness, dwelling in the cloud by day and in the pillar of fire by night. Although Hot Springs isn’t a “wilderness,” I needed to know that Christ the Light abides with me and guides me, now that my health prevents me from fulfilling my call as a church’s pastor. Instead, I proclaim the Gospel through my art.

Open My Eyes, Let Me See

Art Medium: Pen and Ink on Paper

Art Dimensions: 14″ x 11″

Art Price: $275

When I heard that this year’s art festival would focus on Jesus the Light, I immediately thought of one of my favorite songs….Here I Am To Worship. The lyrics of Tim Hughes’ song says it much better than I would ever say. It is the message that Light (Jesus) came down into the dark world that He created and because of His love for us he died on the cross for our sins. Open Our Eyes, Let Us See…….

Cypress Creek, Light and Water

Art Medium: Oil painting

Art Dimensions: 36″ x 48″

Art Price: SOLD

My painting represents Jesus as the Light, the Living Water, and our source of Abundant Life. This spring-fed creek runs through my farm. After the thaw from last year’s ice storm, as the sun broke through the trees, reflecting on the water, I was reminded once again that Jesus is the source of our Light. The quickly flowing creek reminded me of the “Living Water” – Jesus. I added a great deal of texture, representing the Abundant Life we have in our Savior.

Glory of God

Art Medium: acrylic on canvas

Art Dimensions: 48 x 36

This work represents God’s love which he showered down upon the children of the world through his son, Jesus. This shows the light shining down on the faces of the children and the children looking relieved and comforted by this gift. It shows total acceptance and belief. God gave his only son to the world to save the world from itself. We should all see this as the ultimate gift and be comforted in the GLORY of GOD.
