Melody Kroger & Sadie Simmons – When considering God’s creation, I tried to imagine the physical process of man coming into being and what it might look like. To see a human molded from clay and actually begin to breathe would be amazing to witness. I tried my best to visualize and draw that.
By Him All Things Were Created

Carrie Kroger – Each picture in the painting represents a certain aspect of Colossians 1:16. The solar system represents “things in heaven”; the flower and fish represent “things on earth”; Jesus on the cross is “things visible”; and the leaves blowing in the wind represent “things invisible.”
Flow
Art Medium: Oil on Canvas

Kevin Kresse – I wanted this painting to represent a couple of things—the idea of the flow of creativity and acting upon that inspiration coupled with the idea of a gift being given freely and effortlessly. Water, being the basic component and building block of life, seemed to work best within the overall idea. I don’t see the creation as thunder and fireworks, but as a gift of love flowing out to us.
The Woman Saw That the Tree Was Good

Bernardine Konkler-Redwine – This scene of the temptation in the Garden of Eden gave me an opportunity to show the beauty of many of God’s creatures: the sky, the hills, the fields, the river, the ripe fruit, the man and woman. Even the snake has a certain beauty; otherwise Eve would not have listened to it. Even though the fruit was forbidden, it looked good and lovely. In our lives, there are many good things which we cannot have without breaking God’s law; so, if we love God, we are content with what He allows us to have and to do, knowing that God’s laws are for our protection and happiness.
The Cherubim and the Fiery Sword

Bernardine Konkler-Redwine – “The Cherubim and the Fiery Sword” was inspired by my conviction that, in choosing to break God’s law, we lose some of the happiness and joy that God desires us to have, just as Eve and Adam were banished from the beautiful Garden of Eden. By making it an evening scene, I was able to depict the beauty of God’s great gift of fire and the way its light reflects on the grass. Depicting the angel as a handsome young man allowed me to show the glory of God reflected in His human children, who are made “in God’s image”.
Adam and Eve Leaving the Garden of Eden

Cathy Klober – I envision God as a Spiritual Being and Adam and Eve as physical beings. I am attempting to show the presence of the Spiritual, All Seeing God, directing Adam and Eve to leave the Garden of Eden after their
disobedience of His command.

Greta James – God’s creation is huge yet extremely detailed. Its so huge that sometimes we need something like a telescope to appreciate the vastness of the night sky.
Celebration of Creation

Stephanie Innis – I wanted to make an art piece for the Mustard Tree Art Productions, so I chose to do this drawing in pastel. It shows God creating Adam, by pulling him up from the ground. My inspiration for this was my own life. I could not count the number of times God has picked me up from the dirt.
Sea of Moss

Evan Hursley – The moss was the only thing in the park that was green so it pulled my eye. The way the moss grew in between the rocks reminded me of fish jumping in an ocean.

Dylan Hursley – This is right before the serpent tricks Eve. I based the composition on a tree that I drew last year.

Brittany Howell – “God created man in His own image, in the image of God created He him; male and female created He them.” Genesis 1:27 God’s creation of man in His own image can suggest a sense of unity between Him and us. The inspiration drawn from a father/son relationship helps to convey the immense love entwined in this bond. Though it is evident that a worldly father’s creation of a son involves a transmission of attributes, one must take into account the one true Father of all, whose attributes we strive to achieve. However, through this likeness, God expresses His desire for us to follow in His ways.
Separation Turmoil

Judy Shantz Honey – My painting began as an experimental piece with acrylic paint on paper. As it developed, I began to see the power of God in the flow of the paint and how it appeared on the paper. I began to think of what God did on the first three days of Creation and the way there were the separations of light from darkness, sky from water and land from sea. My painting seemed to include all these elements in an abstract way. It shows the turmoil during these events.

Meagan Holiman – My inspiration came from the magnificence of the Lord’s creation. It continually amazes me to see how everything in the world seems to fit together so
perfectly.
Light in My Darkness
Art Medium: Fabric/Canvas

Allison Herndon – My inspiration for this piece of artwork came during a worship service at The Edge. I had recently heard about the art festival and was pondering creating a piece. As I worshipped, I imagined my darkness and sin before Christ. It was a maze of blacks, browns, and deep blues—perhaps an image of what our world was like before light was brought into being. This piece represents my darkness—but there is also The Light. The golds and yellows represent the glow of creation’s light and the hope that Christ brings into the world and into my life.
The Lamb Slain From the Foundation of the World
Art Medium: Water media on Canvas

Wanda J. Herman – I wanted to show that the Babe in Mary’s arms was the Lamb of God. This was the Promised seed of Eve and this was the final Sacrifice for sin and redemption. The promise made to Eve in Genesis 3:15 was that her seed (the seed of the woman, not the seed of man) would bruise the head of the Serpent. Obviously this refers to the coming of the Messiah, the Son of God and of Mary. If it were not for the Virgin birth of the Messiah, the essential doctrine and the plan of salvation, we could not have the death, crucifixion, and resurrection, which was the whole plan of God. I wanted to do a painting that would tell that story without the need of words.
