Fig Leaf

Art Medium: Acrylic

Art Dimensions: .

Art Price: $NFS

Avery Ricks – I took inspiration from Genesis 3:7 which says, “Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked, so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.” I felt like fig leaves represented sin in this passage, so I integrated sin into the fig leaf’s veins to show that Adam and Eve covered themselves with sin when they ate of the forbidden fruit.

Marion Rice – It is my hope that this painting helps to remind us that God is the giver of light on the earth and in our lives. Light, was and is, His idea.

Gratitude

Art Medium: Oil

Marion Rice – Adam had spent his days observing and naming the creatures of the earth and their mates. This painting focuses on Adam’s gratitude to the Father the first time he sees his own “hand crafted mate”, Eve, as she stands before Adam. The viewer is only privileged to see her shadow.

Eve: ‘I Am Sorry’

Art Medium: Acrylic

Art Dimensions: .

Art Price: $NFS

Inis Ray – Eve was heartbroken and sorry when she realized she had done wrong. When viewing Eve’s repentant posture the viewer might be reminded of their self. I think the red color across her body stands for “suffering” and the “forgiven blood” of Jesus Christ. The landscape represents the beauty of the Garden of Eden. It has an ethereal appearance. The snake (serpent) is a symbol of the tempter.

Mollie Ragland – As an artist, I have been inspired most by the Italian Renaissance painter, Michelangelo Buonarroti. Having always had an admiration for Michelangelo, I thought I could create a painting that had the same feel as some of his most famous works of art. This particular painting was inspired by the Sistine Chapel ceiling that Michelangelo painted. The Sistine Chapel has always been a place that amazes me and I have always had the desire to go and see it for myself.

Forbidden Fruit

Art Medium: Photography

Emily Rose Prigmore – When I read about the temptation in Genesis the first image that came to my mind was of Eve taking that first bite of the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden. I took pictures of my cousin, Hannah, with an apple. I liked this photo the best and decided to experiment with the colors. I made the apple look very red and delicious the way it must have looked to Eve and the rest of the picture black and white to show how darkness and evil entered the world.

The Garden of Eden

Art Medium: Sculpture

Lisa Powell – The struggles and temptation that went on in the Garden of Eden still plague us today. I used broken pieces to create this stepping stone mosaic of Adam and Eve in the Garden because it can symbolize the broken hopes and dreams our choices often produces. However, God’s redemptive plan is like a stepping stone back to fellowship with Him. I wanted to be reminded of that when I placed it in my garden.

Hope

Art Medium: Acrylic

Art Dimensions: .

Art Price: $NFS

Lisa Powell – In the chaos of life, as depicted on the lower portion of the canvas, HOPE can appear on the horizon of our life horizontally through family and friends as they encourage us and keep us hanging in there. HOPE can also come vertically from God through His word, message, a song or His Spirit speaking to our spirit. Whether it’s horizontally or vertically, that spark of HOPE can change a heart and direction forever. Believe me, I know. This is dedicated to all those that encouraged and gave me HOPE during the hard places in my life.

Celebrate the Creation of Flowers

Art Medium: Sculpture

Art Dimensions: .

Art Price: $NFS

Lisa Powell – I believe Julie Cameron states it best in her book The Artist’s Way: “Looking at God’s creation, it is pretty clear that the Creator itself did not know when to stop. There is not one pink flower, or even fifty pink flowers, but hundreds. Snowflakes of course, are the ultimate exercise on sheer creative glee.” I can’t help but smile when I think of the fun God must have had creating so many wonderful and colorful flowers. I wanted to paint a bright, fun piece to celebrate my favorite thing to paint….flowers! (It can be displayed as an art piece or with glass top as a garden table.)

An Orderly Creation

Art Medium: Mixed Media

Art Dimensions: .

Art Price: $NFS

Lisa Powell – As I read this portion of Genesis, I discovered God’s method of creation was very organized and controlled. He separated light from dark, sea from sky, called forth vegetation, creatures and flowers in such an orderly fashion. I found comfort in the realization that I can trust the details of my life to a God that obviously was concerned with organizing the many details of creation.

Keith Pope – As Adam and Eve ate the apple in the Garden of Eden, their eyes were suddenly opened to all the temptations. Now man is crying from all the evils upon him.

From the Hand of God

Art Medium: Oil on Canvas

Susan Plunkett – The scripture inspiration for this painting is Genesis 2:21-23. When the Lord God created woman for man, He caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man. He fashioned a woman from the rib of Adam and brought her to him. Can you imagine how delighted Adam was when he saw this beautiful creature before him? In an effort to show the presence of God in the painting I put the hand of God under Adam and Eve to show that we are all ultimately in God’s hand.

Man, Do Not Sleep

Art Medium: Oil and Acrylic

Rosemary Parker – Scripture tells us that Satan approached Eve, not Adam, with enticing words and persuaded her to doubt God. Obviously, Adam had instructed Eve in God’s commandments initially but failed to be watchful to ensure those commandments were kept. God created Eve for Adam as a helper and companion. Adam failed to remind Eve of God’s words and followed her actions. He willingly disobeyed what he knew God wanted. I have chosen to portray Adam as asleep prior to the serpent tempting Eve as an allegory of his apathy. We were responsible for knowing God’s command. Not being vigilant resulted in Eve’s turning away from God’s plan and following her own path.

Flesh of My Flesh

Sandra Newberg – My inspiration for “Flesh of My Flesh” was from one of my Mother’s poems. She wrote of the beauty of man and woman – confusing at best, their many parts – all living in one body and using one heart.
