A New Beginning

Art Medium: Acrylic Ink

Art Dimensions: .

Art Price: $NFS

Dixie Shelton – When my husband died on Mother’s Day after 47 years of marriage I was devastated. One day I went into my studio and I believe God was guiding my hand as I created this painting. I believe he was telling me I should make “a new beginning”, thus the title. I thank the Lord for those years but now after a year, I am moving on to a new kind of life.

One Tree-One Loving God

Art Medium: Water Media on Paper

Art Price: $NFS

Gloria Sewall – Compare the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil and the tree on which Christ was crucified. Both were in a garden. The first was in the Garden of Eden, but also there was a garden in the place that He was crucified. Both trees were the scene of a curse leading to life. Both were necessary for our true communion with God. Both trees prove that man suffers for his own waywardness, but just as Moses cast the tree into the bitter waters to sweeten them, we experience the fellowship of the sufferings of the Son of Man and learn of His persevering love.

See So Clearly

Art Medium: Watercolor

Art Dimensions: .

Art Price: $NFS

Cynthia Schanink – In the beginning was the word and the word was with God. My open bible shows the word with glasses for us to see, really see what God has to say. The united gold candle stand represented the trinity, our Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Then a purple cloth drenched in reds represents Christ sacrifice for us and the time is short with the clock near noon and the candles burning down. We must realize that the time is now so redeem the time and read, study and learn the truth.

Beginning of Times and Seasons

Art Medium: Watercolor

Art Dimensions: .

Art Price: $NFS

Cynthia Schanink – Out of darkness God formed the earth and on the earth He placed a tree in a beautiful garden called Eden. For me Eden is visible through a window of my mind. Look through my window, so you see the time and seasons? In a short time you will be called to show your fruit.

Eve Admires Her New Clothes

Art Medium: Watercolor

Ruby Schaaf – Genesis 3:21 “The Lord God make garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed them.” This account of God taking care of Adam and Eve, even after their sin, was my inspiration for beginning the painting. As I sketched, their ‘old sin nature’ began to emerge in the figures. The way we usually handle our failures became evident in Adam; regret, worry, self-pity, despair. And also evident in Eve is pride and denial. Let’s don’t think about it. Let’s go party. Let’s go shopping!

The Making of Heaven & Earth

Art Medium: Oil

Art Dimensions: .

Art Price: $NFS

Amber Rowton – My inspiration came as I read the first theme for this art show, “Beginnings of Creation”. So many thoughts ran through my head: colors, emotion, energy, power, and life. In the beginning, all was black, and then God, with his mighty, passionate touch brought together exploding colors of gases and dust to create the most beautiful planet, Earth, the home which he gave to all his children. By combining earthly color tones with organic black shapes, I have created the image I have of God creating this fantastic world in the darkness of the universe.

Man and Woman Warm Embrace in a Cold Place

Art Medium: Oil

Jon Ross – This image of man and woman is set in the coolest of cerulean hues. Man was given woman in order to love, and love is what gives the heart warmth in this cold, cruel world.

Hope

Art Medium: Acrylic on Canvas

Art Dimensions: .

Art Price: $NFS

Jon Ross – My hope is centered on the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. This vision came to me in a dream. In my vision the image was cut by two dominant lines which I came to interpret as blood and water. Red is symbolic of the sacrifice, and blue is symbolic of the renewing and cleansing water of baptism. This is one of several paintings I painted in front of a live audience on a much larger scale in the span of 20 minutes.

Light in the Expanse of the Sky

Art Medium: Oil

Art Dimensions: .

Art Price: $NFS

Sherry Roe-Jones – And God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from night and let them serve as signs to make the seasons and days and years, and let them be lights in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth.” And it was so. (Genesis 1:14-15) The rising and setting of the sun is often spectacular and always peaceful regardless of where you go in this world and what happens there. It is a gentle reminder that the Lord is God of everything, even our burdens.

Revelation

Art Medium: Acrylic

Art Dimensions: .

Art Price: $NFS

Nadine Rippelmeyer – This piece illustrates God seeking fellowship with Adam and Eve. Shame and sin cause Adam and Eve to shrink away and attempt to hide from his presence. I attempted to show the light of God revealing their sin and even exposing their “insides” (portrayed by ribs, etc. being exposed). This abstract painting illustrates the revelation of sin and God’s presence in all of our lives. I strove also, to contrast the “ugliness of our sin” in comparison to the beauty of God’s purity.

Temptation

Art Medium: Acrylic

Art Dimensions: .

Art Price: $NFS

Nadine Rippelmeyer – This piece illustrates the nature of temptation to sin in all of our lives. The luring, seductive, appealing nature of sin can cause us to become focused on the temptation (sin) solely and lose focus on truth. Eve, in this picture, is gazing longingly at the apple while the faint subtle image of the serpent above her left forearm was created to show the author (the devil) of all sin.

Creation

Art Medium: Acrylic

Art Dimensions: .

Art Price: $NFS

Nadine Rippelmeyer – After prayer and meditation, this piece just formed in my mind. I desired to illustrate in one piece, the seven days of creation. This piece shows the separation of day and night, water and land, fish, beasts (animals) and man. In the center is the creative, powerful, force of God causing all to come into existence. The exterior sides of the piece are black – as God created all from a void. This piece, I believe, was inspired. I painted it in three hours and it all just came together. I give all credit to God.

Serpent of Sin

Art Medium: Polymer Clay

Art Dimensions: .

Art Price: $NFS

Josiah Rippelmeyer – I created this piece especially for the “Beginnings” art show. The apple symbolizes the sin of this world. The serpent symbolizes Satan and now he is the creator of sin. I used the red color of the apple and the green color of the snake because they are complementary colors and they provide the most impact. Also, the red color of the apple stands for the red color of Jesus’ blood that was shed for us when we sin.

God Created Heaven and Earth and It Was Good

Art Medium: Water Media on Paper

Art Dimensions: .

Art Price: $NFS

Charlotte Bailey Rierson – In the beginning, God created heaven and earth. A lot of thought went into the interpretation of God’s beginning of all matter, light, and forms that exists in space and time. Our solar system includes billions of stars, of which the sun is one, a giant circular galaxy called the Milky Way, the moon and earth. The light separates the darkness and we had day and night. There was water vapor-like aquarium that God lifted and the earth then had land masses. The Spirit of God moved and this wonderful miracle we call the heavens and the earth were created and yes, “It was truly and very good”.

From Darkness of Sin into the Light of Hope (Diptych)

Art Medium: Water Media on Paper

Art Dimensions: .

Art Price: $NFS

Charlotte Bailey Rierson – This is from the Darkness of Sin into the “Light” (revelation of man’s future after disobeying God). God saw they disobeyed and expelled Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden. I as the artist felt the darkness of sin that came over them. God then created a swirling fiery sword that protected the Tree of Life which aluminates in the background of the dark figures. From the Darkness of Sin Into the “Light” there is Hope.
