Unconditional Love

Art Medium: Pen and Ink

Daniel Stovall – The picture of Adam and Eve being comforted by two angels is representative of God’s unconditional love for all mankind. Adam and Eve are hanging their heads under the weight of their guilt and shame; but instead of leaving them alone to suffer, God sends down His grace, mercy and unconditional love to surround them and draw them back to Himself. This same unconditional love is offered to us today. Though it brings great sadness to God when we choose to sin, and consequences of sin must be faced, we are never alone. We are surrounded by God’s unconditional love.

In the Beginning

Marjorie Stone – After studying the scriptures, I wanted to somehow show how “The heavens declare the glory of God and the firmament showed His handiwork (Psalm 19:1) and the moon and stars were ordained by Him. The light represents to me God’s love for us in the creation of heaven and earth.

Millie Steveken – The abstract that I have composed as “The beginnings of Creation” is my interpretation of what it may have been like, and allows the viewer to do the same.

Tree of Knowledge

Mary Ann Stafford – Any garden designed by God would be perfect in balance, unity, proportion, variety, movement, and emphasis – all the principles of good composition. It would be a formal design because that is the most perfect arrangement. It would be unified in a circular design with a variety of heights, colors, and plants to delight the eye. The movement leads toward the gate – open now, but closed forever after Adam and Eve are ejected. Beyond the gate is nothing – a mystery – because Adam and Eve will have no idea what will face them after their departure.

Man Has Fallen

Meagan Snipes – This piece is full of symbolism. The first apple shows man before the fall, whole, pure and at unity with God. The second apple shows the bite. The black represents the sin that has filtered into the apple. The third and final apple shows man completely empty and separated from God. All the while the apple is descending to symbolize that man has indeed fallen.

Sweet Temptation

Art Medium: Water Media on Paper

Bob Snider – Lloyd Menning, retired Pastor and Custodian of Fellowship Bible Church and his wife Dorothy, were my models for the painting entitled “Sweet Temptation”.  As you look into their eyes, I hope you can see kindness and love…as well as hard earned wisdom.  They represent Adam and Eve in their “mature” years…after living under the curse of Genesis 4: 16-17. As a couple they have triumphed in life by taking the fruit that was their downfall and, through God’s redemptive provision, made it into apple pie!

Shadows From the Garden

Art Medium: Water Media on Paper

Art Dimensions: .

Art Price: $NFS

Bob Snider – Miz Kitty Longstreth is my favorite model and posed for the picture which is the basis for this painting.  Her straw hat, with fruits and flowers, represents the Garden of Eden.  The sunlight filtering through the hat casts shadows across her face.  She wears these shadows like memories from her experience in the Garden.  The purposefully sad expression in her eye attempts to capture all that she has learned, and lost, in the Garden.

Not Enough

Art Medium: Acrylic

Art Dimensions: .

Sabrina Smith – God created a perfect sanctuary for His greatest creation, man. He thought of everything possible to make Adam and Eve’s life complete and provided them with every blessing. Satan convinced Eve that all God had done for them was not enough. By eating of the forbidden fruit, Eve could be like God. The painting is an abstract glimpse of Creation and the Fall. Eve offers the fruit to Adam while Satan stands as her shadow. The colors chosen reflect the vibrancy and newness of creation.

And the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters

Art Medium: Color Photography

Michael R. Smith, III – Michael Smith is a member of Fellowship Bible Church and a seventh grade student at Episcopal Collegiate School with an interest in photography. Michael was inspired to make this piece as he watched a Florida sunrise. It reminded him of Genesis 1:2, part of which states “…and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.” Michael feels closest to God when he is near the ocean and is amazed by how beautiful God made our planet Earth.

Expecting

Art Medium: Oil

Jane Anne Smith – When parents are expecting a new baby, they spend many hours gathering together all the things the new one will need for survival and a happy life. God did the same thing! He first made everything the “expected one” would need for life: air, light, vegetation, land, water, etc. And then when everything was ready, God brought into this world the “crown of His creation” ~ MAN!

The Genesis Tree

K. E. Simmons – “The tree was good for food and was a pleasure for the eyes.” This is how Genesis 3:16 describes the tree that produced the forbidden fruit which led to the temptation of Adam and Eve and their subsequent expulsion from the Garden of Eden.
My vision has always been to see this tree as a “weeping” shape to exemplify the sadness of their flawed decision and of their sorrowful banishment from Paradise. The optimistic colors, however, represent the hope of forgiveness and a return to Paradise.

Let There Be Light

Art Medium: Oil

Art Dimensions: .

Fred Shepard – And God said “Let there be light in the firmament of the heaven to divide day from the night”. Then God made two great lights – the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. And God said “Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place and let the dry land appear”.
God the creator of light appears in this painting as three points of light representing the Trinity who were there before the creation of the earth.

Fruit of the Tree

Art Medium: Oil

Art Dimensions: .

Art Price: $NFS

Fred Shepard – The serpent said to the woman “ye will not die if you eat of the tree. God knows that when you eat, ye shall know good and evil”. The woman saw that the tree was good for food, pleasant to the eyes, and would make one wise, so she ate of the fruit, and gave also unto her husband.
I have represented the Tree of Knowledge as a fig tree, being the first fruit mentioned in the Bible, and its large leaves were used for clothing. Additionally, rotten figs were used to signify destruction and Jesus rebuked an unfruitful fig tree.
