Curse of the Land

Geoffrey Tyler Amerman – The inspiration for my painting was brought about through the thought of what the world would have looked like when God punished Adam and all mankind by cursing the land. Not only did I think of how the land would have looked, but also how it changed. My painting simply displays how I think the curse swooped over the land originating from the apple that fell from Adam’s hand. The land changed from being beautiful, fertile with luscious green hills and trees, into dead weed infested and dirt-baked land with weary, dead trees.
Choices

Gary Alexander – Going back to the beginning, man had a choice. Despite God’s warning, man chose to disobey. My painting was inspired by the constant challenge we have to do right or wrong. Because of man’s original sin we are now forced to look at each event in our life as in the light or in the dark. God desires not only for us to have a relationship through Christ, but also desires us to have fellowship with him. Our rebellion and desire to control our lives often leads to bad choices and broken fellowship. Choose this day whom you will serve…..

Ellen W. Alderson – Genesis 4-5 – “But the serpent said to the woman, you will not die; for God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” We are all tempted by many things in our lifetime and being human we sometimes give into temptation. It is when we try to live our lives without God’s influence that we fall into temptation and a life of sin. When we try to be our own God’s, living by our own definitions of “good and evil”, we find ourselves without any roadmap to complete life’s journey.

Ellen W. Alderson – Genesis 2:19 – “So out of the ground the Lord God formed every animal of the field and every bird of the air.” It was God’s plan and purpose for all of mankind to live in harmony with all of nature. Man should not be alone. Man rules over every living creature, and is therefore responsible for their well-being and protection. All mankind must join together to create a better world through “kindness” to all God’s creatures.
A Touch of Light

Ellen W. Alderson – Like the Sistine Chapel’s – The touch of life, the clouds symbolize the “Touch of Light”. Genesis 1:3 – Then God said, “Let there be light.” God called the dome sky. Watching clouds overhead drift by, lifts our eyes heavenward. In so doing, we are ever mindful of God’s glory of creation that is all around us.

B. J. Aguiar – “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” This sculpture represents the heaven and the earth. The earth can be seen underneath the heavens as the heavens shine down. The upper solid circle casts light down on the earth just below. “Let there be light, and there was light.”

B. J. Aguiar – “And out of the ground made the Lord God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food.” This sculpture represents the sprouting of life for the use of man and for the enjoyment of man.

B. J. Aguiar – This sculpture represents the imperfections of man and woman. While no man or woman is perfect, even imperfections can be beautiful when the entire form is taken as a whole. This asymmetric sculpture shows that uneven forms can be beautiful when gazed upon in their entirety.

Melverue Abraham – When God created Adam and Eve, their eyes and heart were not open towards earthly things and did not transgress against God. After eating the forbidden fruit from the tree of good and evil, their eyes were opened. They were wiser and knew they were naked in the garden. Merciful, God chose not to destroy them but multiplied Eve’s sorrows in child-bearing and to be a servant to her husband. Adam’s transgression cost him – he must now work and toil for his food and the whole of mankind that follows.

Melverue Abraham- I am humbled by the order that God created this beautiful universe~~He first filled it with plants, animal, insects etc.~~then He created man. This too could be our lessons in humility just knowing that even the flies, mosquitoes, bees and butterflies were created first. Forget pride/ego and live in harmony with all life.
