Janet Cecil-Wilcox – The creation of the world…the Heavens…the Oceans, Seas, and Rivers…the Soil we walk upon…Breathing life into Mankind…Tempting us, yet giving us the free will to make choices…Where there is judgment…there is hope…that is why being an artist has given me the opportunity to see God’s footprints in the sands of my life and work. My drawings reflect who I am as an artist…so the magic of creation and the spirituality I find in my work is guided by God, who has given me the free will to reflect what is in my heart and soul.

Separating the Light From the Dark
Art Medium: Oil on Canvas

Charlotte Caroom – This is my interpretation of God separating the light from the dark. I wanted it to look somewhat like a crucifix with God’s brightest light in the center of the Cross. It tells us God has shown His light to us since the very beginning.

Leigh Campbell – Genesis 1:3-4 declares, And God said, “Let there be Light,” and there was light.
Perhaps had humans seen the first light, it would have been intimidating. Imagine the feeling of being in a dark room then blinds are opened and you feel a shock, a punch and then the warmth caresses you.

Robby Burton – In this sculpture, I wanted to create a single form using different materials. Each of these materials by themselves are beautiful, but combining them together, I feel, brings more out to each of them. That is one reason I chose to enter this sculpture in the “Beginnings of Creation” category. Like in the creation of the Earth, when unorganized materials were gathered together and assembled to create one unified and beautiful planet. The curves and twists in the piece signify life and growth as if it is alive; just like the Earth, which always moves and changes and constantly shows us how alive it is.

Robby Burton – In this work, I wanted to help the viewer recall the events that took place in the Garden of Eden when Eve was tempted to partake of the forbidden fruit. This caused Adam and Eve to fall out of our Heavenly Fathers grace and to be cast out of the Garden. The eyes represent Eve. The left side of the print represents before the fall, the right after the fall. The snake represents the beguiling serpent, Satan. The flaming sword symbolizes Cherubim that was placed by the Tree of Life to keep Adam and Eve from partaking of its fruit and living forever in a sinful state. If you look close, you can see a tear falling from the right eye. Does it represent sadness or joy?

Janice E. Burford – I wanted to accurately picture how God created the universe according to the two chronological chapters (Genesis 1 and Psalm 104) and 36 other creation passages (comparing scripture with scripture). I tried to illustrate that the viewpoint shifts to the surface of the earth in Genesis 1:2 and remains there for the rest of the passage. In addition, I wanted to show that not only did all matter, energy, space and time have a beginning, but this creation will end one day and God will again create a new heaven and a new earth.

Callie Buchholtz – Whenever I hear the word “creation”, I immediately think of nature and all the wonders of the earth. I tried to portray them all – from mammal to fish, the trees to the sun. I hope what little I have done will inspire others to appreciate all of God’s magnificent creations. “I will praise you, O Lord, with all my heart, I will tell of all your wonders.” Psalm 9:1
Temptation’s Call

Amy Buchanan – This work was inspired by Genesis 3:6 – “So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make on wise, she took of its fruit and ate.” The apple in this piece not only represents the fruit of which Eve ate but every temptation that faces us every day. Its message is the same call Eve heard, that eating of the fruit we desire really isn’t as bad as God says. Its beauty draws us in seducing us to the idea that what is on the inside really is good for us and will satisfy our desires when the truth is it is rotten and not nourishing for us.
For Hope

Amy Buchanan – This work was inspired by Genesis 3:8 – “…and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden.” The shame and guilt of disobeying God overwhelmed Adam and Eve to the point they tried to hide themselves. The first woman in the photograph represents this by hiding her face in front of the eaten fruit. In the photograph, the second woman symbolizes Eve facing God with fear and trembling as her sin becomes evident. The third woman in this photograph signifies a longing for hope from sin that can be found in the merciful heart of God.

Amy Buchanan – I captured this photograph on a beautiful spring day. The sunlight was shining perfectly through the petals of the poppy flower. It reminded me of a beautiful sunrise opening the skies of the morning. I am in awe not only of God’s power to create the earth on which we live and the air we breathe but that He would paint our world with the smallest of flowers just so our eyes could behold its beauty.
Breath of Life

Amy Buchanan – This photograph was inspired by Genesis 2:7 – “And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.” The beginning of life comes from God and God alone. He takes the dust of our life and breathes into us new life through His Spirit.
Angel

Neilann Brown – The calm presence of the angel among the swirling thicket of lines symbolizes the reassuring fact that God is I control no matter what chaos humans may create. Though Adam and Eve sinned and were cast out of the Garden of Eden, God never abandoned them as He never abandons us regardless of our circumstances.
