Nathan Edwards – I was inspired to do this painting because I thought that if I had done one that was realistic that I would not be satisfied. But then I thought about doing something to deal with the creation of day. I painted black all over, then some waves, then added the sky and down the sides was kind of a connection. I realized that it could be the sky and waters separated by darkness, and that the connection would be God and us. God’s creation was that He wanted the sky and waters separated. The sun had not been made. This painting shows the coming of light.

Holly Douglas – I chose to portray Genesis 3:1-7 through iconography this painting shows God in his righteousness judge Adam and Eve. The eye symbolizes God’s presence knowing and watching over everything. The gate represents the gate that was placed at the entrance to the Garden of Eden after the first sin. The tree represents the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, and the leaves symbolize hope and a new life. The hand reaching across the painting symbolized mankind’s desire for sin.

Christian Doucet – When I though about Genesis and mostly about creation, my first thought was of the shapeless earth and God forming the Garden of Eden, but as I thought more about it my thought strayed toward human creation. Human creation is the geneses of the incredible complexities which make up the human body and proof of our Creator. Man was created in God’s image, but man is not alone he also has woman who was created from his rib. Without woman, there would be no balance and man could not exist as well and vice versa.

Suzi Dennis – Imagine if you will, if you can, the earth hovering there in space, a blackness that cannot be imagined in our most vivid, worldly imaginations. A low rumble seeps from the bowels of the sleeping giant, as it lays there in its darkness. And the Holy Spirit hovers over its sedate emptiness. Then slowly, just around the edge of the rumble, God moves light into the blackness…subtle at first…almost an illusion…then the dark earth lightens, the rumble turns to a sigh and God is pleased. He sees that the light is good. Amen.
One Flesh

Suzi Dennis – God loved man so much it pained Him to see man alone. But just another lump of clay out of the earth to make a companion was not enough. God wanted woman to be more special than that, more precious, so what did He do? He made woman from man; “bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh”; commissioned by God to be one with each other in this life and the next. “Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh” Genesis 2:24.

Rex R. DeLoney – The Tree of the Knowledge is displayed in the middle of the composition. The roots from the tree flow to the veins and bodies of the two primary figures. The fig leaves represent the realization of the fact that Adam and Eve had sinned, therefore they are portrayed as trying to cover their naked bodies. In the lower left corner, Eve is intertwined with the child entering the birth canal, which is symbolic of the sorrow in conception that God placed upon women. Adam is placed in front of the cursed ground, which is represented by the thorns and thistles placed vertically to the right.
Creation of Man

Rex R. DeLoney – The Creation of Man is my interpretation of Genesis 2:7. My palette was intentionally created with neutral earth tones that would give the earthly presence of holy hands forming the image of man from the ground. The hands, man, and the earth are painted to flow together to symbolize the process of creation between God, Earth and Man. The background is painted in strong vibrant colors of red and yellow, to depict light, and God’s pleasure with his creation

Shirley Dawson – I created a blend of several images and text to create this depiction of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. I wanted to show a picture of the love of God toward his human creations and the love of the first man and woman for each other. The beauty of the garden is shown in the colorful flowers and greenery and the man and woman’s love is revealed in their embrace; however, Eve does look away from her mate and the serpent lurks awaiting his moment to entice her. The text is from Genesis 2.

Shirley Dawson – This photographic blend of images was created to depict the story of the fall of Adam and Eve. I wanted to show their sadness toward each other, yet still their togetherness as they are to become the progenitors of all mankind. The bitten fruit indicates their disobedience and God’s hand being pierced with a nail as He must remove himself from His closeness to His creation. The image of the serpent shows his strike at God through His cherished human creations. The text is from Genesis 3.

Sharon Davis – From somewhere in eternity, holy God set time into place and breathed, “Let there be…” and particles and elements from every corner of existence bowed in submission to the authority of the great I Am. In the beginning…beckoned with a Word, the chaos of the void and formless earth became the orderly revelation of His holiness.
This mixed medium acrylic on canvas is my expression of how God inspired my love of color and texture to convey His masterful creation. May it reflect the life and hope that He has given me through His Son Jesus Christ.

Miriam Daniel – Adam and Eve were tempted by the serpent to eat fruit from a forbidden tree in the midst of the Garden of Eden. They committed the first sin by eating fruit from a tree. Jesus died on the cross, which is also referred to as a tree, for our sins. So, the first sin came from a tree and was also forgiven on a tree.

Amy Daniel – My inspiration to do this art piece was the thought sometimes sin and temptation may seem bigger than life. We need to realize that God is bigger than sin and temptation and they only SEEM bigger than life, but they really are not.
